Your teammates are the reason I'm not as needed as I could be. I'm glad you're surrounded by good people. [ Shiro seems to watch out for them just as much as they do for him, which is probably why Mananan isn't really brought to him nearly as much as he's expected.
He smiles slightly as Shiro looks at him, but he doesn't expect him to remember anything. He had no intention of leaving an impression, so he's sure he didn't. ]
Yeah, when you were younger. I think you were a teenager when I realized we were tethered to each other, but most of my contact with you has been in more recent years. [ For obvious reasons. ]
You can ask anything you want. I'll answer honestly.
[Shiro looks a mix of touched, proud, and embarrassed at the compliment to his teammates.] I wouldn’t be here without them… They’ve saved me more times than I can count. [Shiro definitely does his best to look out for them and keep them as safe as possible, even if that means throwing himself in harm’s way without hesitation. But… he’s not perfect. Despite so many people thinking otherwise.]
I see. [Well, that would explain why he had no childhood memories of the other man. Not that he remembers much of him—anything of him—now as an adult. He shakes his head slightly and offers another apologetic smile.] Sorry. I wish I could remember you from recent years, but… I can’t. I’ve had some rough times. [His Galra captivity, the Voltron War, the Garrison. It’s been a lot. The offer of question-answer earns a blink.]
Oh. [That was sudden. Um…] What do… you do? As an angel?
[ There's a part of Mananan that wants to reach out to Shiro, but he holds back, knowing that there's little reason for a comforting touch and that part of it is driven by the fact that this is the first time they've really been this close for this long. ]
I don't expect you to remember me. It's okay. [ It's said with a soft smile, understanding. And it's true. He's never made a great effort to push himself into Shiro's memory. It's not something he's supposed to do, after all. ] I've seen you through some of those times, but I wasn't visible to you.
[ His captivity, for example. But he doesn't elaborate on that, instead letting his hands come to rest behind him as he leans back on them. ]
Most of my job has nothing to do with you. We watch over human dreams and creations since we don't typically watch over humans themselves anymore. But sometimes an angel ends up tethered to a human by fate and... [ Mananan lifts a hand and waves it between the two of them. ]
When it comes to you, I can feel it when you're feeling negative emotions, the more intense, the more I feel drawn to you. I think it was embarrassment that brought me to you last night... once you lost your pants.
[Shiro rests his elbows on his knees, still looking at the other man with a small bit of “studying” going on in his gray eyes. Mananan is an angel. He doesn’t really look like an angel, as far as Shiro’s mind says. But those wings before weren’t a trick. If this guy really is his angel… it’s probably as odd for him as it is for Shiro. Just, not in the same way.
He nods when the other man reassures him about not remembering. Still makes him feel a little bad, not recognizing his own angel… Not that he ever knew what to look for. The mention of seeing him through some of “those” times earns a small frown from the other man. A very human part of him wants to instantly lash out and ask why Mananan hadn’t been there for him during those horrible times. A whole year of captivity, slavery, brutality, and worse, and his own angel had been… there?! The question burns on his lips, but it’s because of those feelings that Shiro deliberately bites the question back. There are things he doesn’t know here and accusing or blaming the other man isn’t going to help. Besides… angels aren’t tickets to get out of life’s suffering.
Hell, for all he knows, Mananan could be the very reason he didn’t die during his year-long enslavement. Who’s to say the near miss of those blades hadn’t been his own angel nudging them aside? Do Galra and other aliens have angels? Oh now there’s a question…for later.]
Nothing to do with me? [Okay, that instantly throws him for a loop. Maybe he’d taken “angel” to mean “guardian angel” stock type. Chagrinned, Shiro frowns and laces his fingers together for something to do as he listens.] Dreams and creations, huh. Just watch to see what they do, or are you cultivating them?
[He glances to the angel again when he goes on about being tethered by fate. Okay… Mananan’s drawn to his negative emotions. That’s awkw—His pants?! Shiro goes beet red.] I summoned my angel because I lost my pants?!
[Prisoner for a year and Voltron war for another year and his embarrassment over his pants is what finally summons Mananan to him. Talk about mortifying. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so awkward!]
[ Up until recently, Mananan's followed a lot of rules. Rules that he's currently breaking and rules that he broke the previous night in revealing himself to Shiro for more than just a glimpse in passing. Following rules is what's kept a barrier between them, what's stopped him from just pulling Shiro out of captivity and sparing him the pain of it. But Mananan wouldn't be surprised or hurt to be lashed out at over his presumed negligence when it comes to protecting his human. He knows it probably seems like he's done little to nothing for him before now.
It's not something he's going to push or question, though. When Shiro seems to take that without a word of protest about it, Mananan is fine with letting it go. ]
You're my priority, but I'm not supposed to be with you all the time. If I feel that you need me, I drop everything to get to you. But, for the most part, I'm working here. [ Because no one needs an angel hovering over their shoulder constantly and it would get a little boring to follow without being seen. ] We sort of keep them in line. Every dream or creation or fiction or fantasy has their own world and we manage them, I guess you could say. We hold on to them even after humans forget about them.
[ Mananan can't help letting out a laugh when Shiro turns red, the surprise of it making him realize how it sounds. ]
You've summoned me a lot! This is just the first time I've appeared to you like this. It was such a harmless reason to need help and I thought it would be nice to finally talk to you... [ His smile sort of fades a little as he straightens up. ] I should've just brought you home and put you to bed and left. If anyone finds out about this, they'll want to make you feel like it was all a dream.
[He nods at that, because it's certainly true. A revolutionary doesn't need to have that specific title to be a revolutionary, obviously. Though, perhaps the Army he worked for could have chosen a slightly less -- blatant name.]
That's true.
Oh? [He actually giggles softly, immediately blushing afterward. That was a little awkward, coming from a grown man, so he looks away.] That's impressive. [And then that question --]
It's just the world. Can't really state anything more than that! [Oh, how he'd love to have a drink right now, but the aphrodisiacs make that impossible.]
[He's not going to argue the different terms. Revolution, rebellion, liberation, the terms all mean the same thing. The execution and ideology are the differences between them. Most of the time. Shiro's seen all three in his experiences.]
Just the world, hm. [He's momentarily leaned towards trying to clarify that, but realizes that not every world/dimension/reality has the same capabilities. If Sabo's world never looked into space or bothered to leave their planet behind, they obviously wouldn't know or even recognize anything beyond the "world" that is their everything.
Shiro offers a nod and accepts it.] That's fine. It's your home. We have similarities between them. [Like cows.]
So... how do you eat or drink anything here? [Because he's thirsty right now and that half-a-glass of liquid in front of him is really tempting. Even if there are drugs inside...]
[It is truly just 'the world,' as silly as that may seem. Though, now that Sabo is aware of other planets and worlds, if he returns home, he's certainly going to tell others what he'd learned. Hopefully.
He's expecting to go back home at some point.
He leans back in his seat a little, the sound of the leather creaking underneath his body as he listens to that question. Honestly -- with only a small amount of aphrodisiac coursing through one's system, it should be possible to negate or ignore the effects.]
You might be able to drink some. I figure that unless there's a very high dosage of aphrodisiac in there, you should be able to ignore its effects.
[He hopes. If not, he'll feel terrible, honestly.]
[Shiro doesn’t think it silly. It’s simply how the other man views his world. He’s encountered planets before whose occupants didn’t consider anything remotely beyond their sky. The concept of “planet” wasn’t in their vocabulary. But considering what he just told Sabo, Shiro’s pretty sure the revolutionary will say something when he gets back home. If they remember all of this.
The Paladin frowns a little at the answer, but there’s no denying the slight relief in his eyes. While he’s gone without drink a long time before, the threat of this drug is… well… He takes a smaller drink, but a drink nonetheless. Maybe gradual introduction will give his system time to regulate it or flush the drug out. Maybe it’s stupid of him to just up and drink after learning such a truth. But if this is the worst drug they’ll put in him, he can always retreat to his place and just… deal with it alone.
It wouldn’t be the first time.]
I’ll be careful. I know it’s not optimal, but living in fear of everything we eat and drink seems like… a really pathetic way to live.
[He eyes Shiro take a very cautious sip from his drink, and he starts to feel a little anxious. He did truly believe that his suggestion to drink a very small amount might work, but he isn't an expert on aphrodisiacs or drugs at all, really. So his idea could have been completely off the mark.
If that's the case, he'll just insist Shiro go back to his living space so nobody takes advantage of him. He might even insist to escort him there, not that he thinks anyone would really bother him. He's a larger man, very muscular, and not one that gives off an appearance that says he's vulnerable. So, he should be fine, in theory.]
I agree. But to be safe, I probably shouldn't drink a drop until I leave. Just so one of us has no risk of becoming too affected by aphrodisiacs.
[Sabo, meanwhile, is also thirsty, but if he drinks anything, he risks also succumbing to aphrodisiacs. He can't do that if he's planning on escorting this man to his living space. But as the seconds pass, he starts to feel a little warmer, possibly due to nerves, and the idea of drinking anything at all becomes more appealing.]
[OOC: Would you like either of them to become affected by aphro?]
Glad to hear it. [Likewise, Shiro doesn’t anyone walking in on what’s obviously going to be a very personal time between them. He lets his hands lower to his sides, chin lifting slightly as Keith works on the buttons of his shirt. They slide open easily, splaying the dress material over Shiro’s powerful chest. Apparently the Paladin figured and undershirt wasn’t required for going formal, as his skin’s revealed with each pop of the button. Scars mar his flesh, from slash lines to burn swaths to even bite marks; a handful of those are visible on his chest and stomach as readily as the one across the bridge of his nose. But the sculpture of his muscles—the same that make his shirt a bit tight—stand in defiance of the injuries, powerful and defined like a trained soldier.]
I’ve… thought about this too. [He can’t lie about that, not when those amethyst eyes meet his silver gaze. Keith is… he’s more than just attractive to Shiro. He’s close. The man he invested in as a youth, the soldier he trusted his life to without hesitation, the friend who encouraged him through so much. A pulse of heat runs through him, both from swift arousal and deeper affection. It blooms on his face at the mention of Adam, his heart clenching in his chest despite himself. Adam…] He might have needed some encouraging to agree to this.
[Shiro finds himself smiling at the thought despite the pang of sadness and ever-lingering affection for his deceased lover.] But Adam always thought you were cute. [The Paladin moves his shoulder forward, letting Keith push his shirt over the round and down his arm, muscles shifting under his skin.] He said you’d grow up to be an attractive man. And he was right.
[Especially now. He glances down as he feels something nudge against his groin and can’t stop a small grin at the sight of Keith’s cock swelling right in front of him. It’s alluring, the way his foreskin peels back from his glans by itself, revealing the bullet-shaped mound of his glans. But further staring’s stopped as lips find his own. Shiro tenses once, and then rapidly sinks into it, admitting and surrendering to the feelings he's long felt. Pressing his lips to Keith’s and a firm, warm kiss that lingers for a good while. Until the other man finally breaks it to talk.
He laughs softly, embarrassed but touched when Keith reminisces about his concerns.] I guess you didn’t see it when you watched Adam and I in the woods, hm. [That would’ve definitely validated Keith’s assumptions thanks to those gym shorts. Mental note: check gym shorts size. Shiro looks into Keith’s eyes again, undeniable heat in his gaze as his soon-to-be lover confesses to his changed opinion.] Then… want to stop thinking about that? [His hand lifts to Keith’s side and brushes his flesh fingers over the man’s pelvis.] And start doing it? A lot a lot.
[His metal hand takes hold of Keith’s wrist and guides his hand to his stomach, pressing his fingers to his defined abs before inviting them to slide down towards the fly of his pants.]
[He's not surprised that Shiro's not wearing an undershirt. He's pleased nonetheless because he gets to see this all of that exposed flesh. He didn't mind the scars beyond some worry, especially the bite marks. He finds himself attracted to the slashes that Shiro obviously got in battle.]
You did? You have?
[His face turns even pinker now as he looks up at him, mouth going into a comical 'oh' shape. ]
Even when... I was a brat?
[He's... well this information that Shiro's thought about him like this is not too surprising. Ever since he got those two extra years there was this... tension between them. But he's very curious to know just how long Shiro's thought of him like this.
And apparently, Adam found him cute too? He missed Adam as well. He was never as close to the other man as he was to Shiro, but he did think of him as family.]
A little of it, Adam was doing you doggy style, so I saw it bouncing between your thighs along with your balls. But didn't get a good look. I got a good look at his though. As he pounded into you. I wanted to get closer. But I didn't want to interrupt you. You were moaning so much. I want to make you moan like that.
[He swallows and lets Shiro drag his hand down to his groin. With a nod, he had his other hand join in and start to undo Shiro's pants. He can already feel Shiro's manhood through the thin material of the dress pants. He can feel the heat radiating from it. Fuck, he was so close to what he wanted, after so many years of want. He had thought he couldn't have this when he was teen because Adam was there and he respected Adam's and Shiro's relationship. Sometimes wish they would include him in it, though the way Shiro's talking that might have been a possibility. Especially now that the age difference isn't as great. (Thank you laws of physics to make everything simultaneously more and less awkward.)
Then he has Shiro's dress pants falling to the floor, and all that's left is to remove his underwear. Keith's cock throbs and a pearl of precum appears at the tip, betraying just how turned on he is. This man is perfect, he thinks as he looks over Shiro's body, focusing most on Shiro's face and groin.]
Shiro.
[He says the man's name like a prayer and kisses him again as he hooks his fingers into his underwear and pulls them down.]
[Every now and then, he feels uncomfortable and insecure about the scars carved all over his body. Finding them ugly, a reminder of his suffering, and wondering if Keith thinks the same about them. But most of the time, he accepts them for what they are: proof he survived. And yes, he’s drawn towards Keith’s as well, despite wishing he never had to suffer them in the first place. They just remind him of how strong the man has become.] Yeah. [Shiro smiles at Keith’s burning face.] You’re pink… [Just wants to point that out, maybe to be a bit of a brat if his grin’s says anything about it.
The other question, however, earns a thoughtful hum and expression. Has to think for a moment.] I agreed with Adam you were cute, and that you’d grow up to be very attractive. [Shiro has to laugh softly, a little embarrassed and sheepish too.] But I don’t think I would’ve invited you to join Adam and I that night. [Mostly the fact Keith wasn’t of legal age back then and Shiro had far more respect for the boy than viewing him as something like that.]
When I saw your picture at the Garrison before I left for Kerberos, however… I did think about it. About how whoever you were with during your training would be very lucky. And how I wanted to invite you to spend one more night with Adam and I. Together. [A soft wisp of jealousy lingers in Shiro’s voice, but it’s deliberate and fond rather than negative. Keith had indeed grown up to be a very attractive young man one of Shiro’s few regrets to going into space that fateful mission was not getting to be there for Keith. Amazing how life does things you least expect…
He tenses a bit at the lewd detail of Keith’s memories, chest and stomach visibly flexing and the bulge in his pants quickly “voicing” its approval. A hot flush crawls across his cheeks despite the rush of guilty pleasure the memory now gives him.] You watched that, hm? Pervert. [Said with affection. Shiro’s breath quickens a bit as Keith continues, talking about his cock and balls, about Adam’s equipment, reminding Shiro of just how hard his ex had been thrusting into him that night. And just how loud he’d been moaning. His trapped arousal makes another approving twitch and Shiro swallows hard, eyes sharpening in undeniable arousal.] You’re going to… I want you to.
[Their hands meet and there’s a small jerk as the clasp for his pants is undone. The dark material splays open and sags around his hips, thin and soft material brushing against his legs as it falls under its own weight and crumples in a lewd pool around his ankles. He wastes no time in toing off his shoes and socks, using the motions to step out of his pants as well. What Keith sees definitely hasn’t declined in the years they’ve been apart. From the size of Shiro’s bulge swelling the black material of his boxer briefs to the strong curve of his ass the dark elastic clings to like a second skin. It’s more than obvious the Black Paladin is turned on, his arousal starting to strain the tight wrap. Shiro brushes his hand over Keith’s as the younger man hooks his fingers down beneath the waistband.]
Keith…
[His eyes drop, wandering over his soon-to-be lover’s body, taking in his toned figure, naked and perfect, the way his cock throbs so hard between his thighs, and the glistening bead of pre crowning his tip like a jewel. Unconsciously his tongue slips across his lips, eyes darkening in arousal and lust from the prospects. And then that freeing pull down. The hem catches on his arousal, dragging at it down until Shiro’s perpendicular to his own hips. Where it slips off and the man’s cock swings up and slaps against his Adonis belt and stomach with a thick ‘thud’ of flesh to flesh. Long, girthy, and quickly filling to full mast. Shiro doesn’t wait for the underwear to reach his ankles; he hikes a leg at the knee and quickly strips the fabric off his feet, tossing it away so he can finally stand in front of Keith naked and ready.]
You really have grown up nicely, Keith. [And promptly wraps one arm around the younger man’s waist and pulls him forward into a firm kiss.] Come here.
Shiro, don't tease. [He scowls slightly, knowing that Shiro's baing playful, and ducks his head at the comment, but that doesn't make his blush go away.]
Well, that night you didn't know I was watching, so it's a moot point. [And even then, he was young enough then that the invite might have overwhelmed him. He wouldn't have lasted long. He didn't when he took his hand to himself after Adam and Shiro had finished.
He nods at Shiro's wish at wanting him and Adam before he went off on his last mission. It would have been a nice going-away present, and Keith had imagined it happening as well, but Adam and Shiro had just had that fight, and Keith didn't want to rock the boat any more than it already had been.]
I uh... never got with anyone at the Garrison. Or after.
[He gives a shrug.] So you'll be my first.
[Which, to be honest, was what he had always wanted. He had given up on that happening when he had met Adam but had just never met anyone he really wanted to have sex with. When he washed out the Garrison he had been alone for a long time until Shiro had crash-landed back to earth, and then the others had barged their way into his life as well.]
I told you I did. I... it was really nice to watch.
[Anything else he could add leaves his mind the moment Shiro's cock slaps against his belly. Oh. That is big.
He swallows, and he's glad they've pretty much already decided he's going to top. Because he's not sure he can take that thing without a lot of prep. It's longer and thicker than his own considerable endowment. Not too much, but enough for Keith to notice. He wraps his hand around the thick shaft, stroking down to pull back the foreskin. God, he wants to taste Shiro.]
I'm just catching up to you. [He looks up as Shiro pulls him close, smiling into the kiss.]
Sorry. [Not completely. Teasing Keith can be pretty fun; the younger man’s blush is attractive. It probably would have been strange to invite Keith to be with Adam and him, considering the disagreement that went down before Shiro left for space. But… though it hurts to think about now, back then, he would’ve appreciated the company to balm his disappointment and irritation. Shiro never promised to be a perfect man.
But when Keith drops that little secret, the Paladin twitches his head back in surprise.] You never… [He knew Keith wasn’t all that social of a person, but he at least thought a growing teenager like him would probably have found some kind of release beyond just his hand. And then with their adventures with Voltron. But at the same time, that loner attitude and hotheadedness make an equally strong argument for Keith not getting with anyone. Plus his feelings for Shiro…
He can’t stop a quick flush of his own. Keith stated his “first” so nonchalantly.] I’m flattered. Really, Keith. [The fact his partner saved himself for him… It’s touching, and Shiro feels a small pang that he can’t give Keith the same respect in return. No, he doesn’t regret being with others and Adam—he never will on the latter—but it’s still a really intense thing Keith’s giving him. Shiro lowers his eyes for a second, then lifts them to meet Keith’s.] I hope I’m worth the wait.
[Whether he’s teasing him again or sincerely saying that is up to Keith’s decision. He’s leaning towards the latter one. Whatever preconceived thoughts or fantasies Keith’s had about him up until now are going to be put up against the real thing. And… well… Shiro knows just how intense fantasies can get when you’re all alone. Obviously when Keith saw him with Adam, Shiro wasn’t broken. Both arms, no scars, no trauma. Now… He pushes the thoughts aside. No. Keith’s more mature than that. He’s more important to Shiro than those doubts.
And he’s gulping at the sight of him. That’s a mixture embarrassing and a big stroke to the ego. Yeah, he’s bigger than Keith and Keith is no slouch in his own endowment. Shiro’s eyes lid as fingers wrap around his shaft, enticing the swelling mast to throb against his fingers. A low groan slips out of his mouth and he rests his hand on Keith’s shoulder when the man slides his grip down, drawing his foreskin away from the other Paladin’s swollen, dusky pink glans. He can’t stop a shiver from rippling down his body as cool air brushes the tender flesh.
Shiro shifts his weight slightly, bracing on his heel and the ball of his other foot as he pulls Keith in. Just a moment’s hesitation and he presses forward, sinking into the kiss and bringing his strong body flush against his new lover’s athletic tone. It… It makes him want to melt and combust instantly. He’s been held by Keith before, he’s held the other man in his arms, and yet none of those felt as good as this feels right now.] Keith. [His voice is a deeper purr against Keith’s lips.] I’ve wanted this… for while now.
Allura once teased the Paladins about having hearts made of iron. How else could they go through all they had without succumbing to a billion heart attacks? Shock, rage, sadness, disbelief. They experienced those things so much during their journey and war. It was no less intense to return to Earth and find their home, the planet they’d all longed to see for over a year (more than two in Shiro’s case), blockaded by their mortal enemy. Strangled, ravaged, imprisoned, struggling to survive. Shiro didn’t want to admit to himself attacking the Galra felt good, liberating the Earth out of more than just freedom and protection, but out of a personal revenge. And yet… the moment he learned of Adam’s near death in that suicidal run towards Sendak… things went from personal to very personal. It still plagued him even after the liberation of the Paladin’s homeworld, even after he found his ex-lover among the survivors of the Garrison.
It took a while for him to actually find the courage to approach the man he had left behind. The last words they said to each other had been very harsh… and he’d ‘died’ for all Adam knew, with those words ringing in his ears. Shiro was a brave man; no one would ever challenge that. But he felt like a coward and a heel when he finally stood outside Adam’s room. It had to be one of the hardest things in his life to touch that door… and not bolt down the hall a second later.
Was it easy? No. Was it painful? Very. Did they just pick right back up where they left off and carry on like nothing happened? Hell. No. Were they working on their damaged relationship and healing after that nasty fight and two-year separation? Yes. And Shiro couldn’t be more grateful.
Sunday night, however… Oh he was grateful for it. But not so much for having the stand the next few days. Honestly, Adam. He knew his lover was intense before. But now… there was this underlying desperation, possessiveness, and even stronger passion in their sex life. Not that Shiro was complaining about it. Lucky for him, being Captain meant a lot of standing on the bridge. (Un?)lucky for him, Adam was as addicting as he always was. He couldn’t help the stupid little smile while texting his fiancé. Setting up another date. This time by the pool. It’d been a little difficult to be patient through Saturday.
But 10pm Sunday and he was here. The glow of the Garrison pool cast a blue haze over everything, the rest of the room locked down for the night. Being in high command had its perks. Not that Shiro abused that privilege… Just… maybe the other Paladins and their not-so-by-the-books inclinations had rubbed off on him.
There's something to be said about the tenacity of the human race, in general. The Paladins weren't the only ones who experienced the entire range of emotion over the course of several years, the only difference being that the Paladins experienced theirs through the vast reaches of space, whereas the rest of the human race had theirs on Earth. Adam himself experienced everything within five seconds of hearing Sam Holt's debrief. It was great to see him again, a relief to know at least one of the three men on that fated mission were still alive. But when he heard the words "Shiro's still alive," Adam stopped listening to anything else. Though he later learned the rest of the information that Sam told them about in the first meeting, he can't remember how Sam actually said it.
The minute the debrief was over, he calmly went back to his room and broke down. After that, he was back to normal. Adam took Sam's words seriously and did whatever he could to help prepare Earth for the eventual invasion. He wanted to be ready for whoever came first: the Paladins and Voltron or the Galra. Unfortunately, it was the Galra who came first. He trained and trained and everything in him told him that he could help hold the invading force off, buy them some time.
How wrong he was.
It was a miracle that when his plane was shot down that he didn't die in a fiery explosion. The Garrison found him in the wreckage of his plane and essentially grounded him for the foreseeable future. While he couldn't fly, he could still help train the pilots that could carry on the fight in the future. They could do a lot more than he ever could, but he won't lie that it wasn't a relief to see Voltron finally arrive. Of course, freeing home took precedence over giving a certain person traveling with Voltron a piece of his mind.
Which is why when everything was all said and done, Adam totally did not stay in his room and overthink every single thing that he could say and wanted to say to Shiro. Nope, not at all. It was only totally because of luck that Shiro found him there. Yep. Totally. But Adam wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Several years of emotions were let out when Shiro knocked on his door. It was because of his relief that the first thing he did when he saw Shiro was hug him. It was because of grief that the next thing he did was hit him in his not-technological arm. It was because of everything else that he let the other man into his room so that they can finally have the talk they needed to have.
Adam tried to move on during that time, but in the end, all the men he saw had one fatal flaw: they weren't Shiro. They didn't get back together like nothing happened, but worked together to pick up the pieces that were broken when they ended things the way they did. It was a slow process, but one that Adam is glad that they're doing together.
Especially after Sunday night. It seemed that their separation only served to heighten their nights together. Adam doesn't want Shiro to ever forget how much he means to him. He feels a little bad that Shiro couldn't sit down for a few days, but at the same time, Adam can't help the feeling that runs down his spine at that knowledge. Time may have changed, but Shiro was just as addicting for Adam as well. Adam couldn't hide his grin as he texted his fiance during the day. The ribbing he got from everyone else was well worth knowing that their next date was planned for Sunday.
And on Sunday, Adam walks into the Garrison pool. Like Shiro said, he didn't plan to bring a swimsuit, but he figured that a towel would be fine. Walking in from the locker room, a towel wrapped around his waist for some semblance of modesty (just in case). He's looking around before his eyes eventually settle on Shiro. It's warm and fond and full of so much love.
But that doesn't still hide the small smirk on his face as he places a hand on his waist.
"The 'Closed for Maintenance' sign was unexpected. Did you learn a few more things while you were away?"
[ ooc: I don't normally write this much, but I felt like setting up a little bit more for Adam, if that's alright? ]
He'd faced down monsters from deep space, hoards of Galra fighters, Sendak and warriors in the arena (the latter ground he doesn’t remember), angry Alteans, being leader to a bunch of young adult (yikes). But nothing ever made his heart jump into his throat like the sound of that door opening after his knock. And he didn’t even have a bunch of flowers to hide behind. (Or a laser rifle.) He went as tense as a steel rod when Adam’s first action was to sweep him into an embrace. Only for a second or two. Before he melted into a hard hug right back, clinging to the man like he’d never let go. Of course, he had to because Adam picked that time to punch him right in the arm. Ow… That almost gave him a dead limb. Rubbing his bicep, Shiro followed Adam into his room and the rest of the night was… intense. But so very much needed.
Shiro didn’t “move on” so much as was a man with urges. He didn’t lie about his experiences. It was better he was honest with Adam and tell him he’d been with others during those two years. Lance and Keith primarily. But that missing year… He only told Adam that he had the feeling the Galra had other uses for him beyond the arena. Perhaps that was one of the reasons he couldn’t remember—didn’t want to. It wasn’t fair to his ex-lover to not know what a wreck he was getting back from the depths of space. The scars, his trauma, his missing arm, his amnesia. Broken and used and war-torn. He just hoped that Adam had been able to move on and find happiness with someone more worthy, someone who would treat him better.
But… Adam hadn’t. He tried, but… hadn’t been able to. On the one hand, Shiro felt even worse for that. On the other… that’s what finally made him tear up and cling to the other man like a lifeline. To be that loved… Yes, it was slow and difficult recovery, but they were getting through it together. Being accepted and treasured like this was… amazing. As was that first morning he woke up beside Adam in the same bed. As were those heightened nights together. There was no way he could forget how much Adam meant to him before. Now he feels it branded into his skin, left emblazoned by teeth, hands, arms, legs, lips, and more. It’s breathtaking. Even walking to the pool tonight had left his pulse quickening and his body already starting to thrum with interest and arousal.
Shiro stands by the pool, gazing down into the water, a simple black towel wrapped around his waist. He eschewed a swimsuit as well, for obvious reasons, but even then couldn’t bring himself to walk around naked in public. Hearing footsteps, the man glances over his shoulder, finding Adam standing not too far off. Dressed just in that towel. And his eyes… Shiro visibly pauses, lips parting as he’s caught up in his lover’s gaze. Such warmth and love… For a moment, he really feels he doesn’t deserve it. But the gentle spell’s broken and he comes back to reality as Adam smirks at him and just has to keep that uppity hint Shiro feel for a long time ago. He flushes a little at the question and rubs the back of his neck, though his smile says he’s proud of it.
“Some of the Paladins were more ready to stretch rules than I was. Guess they rubbed off on me.” He lowers his hand, scarred muscular body backlit by the pool lights. “You look amazing, Adam.”
[ooc: Totally alright! I will and can write novels. I am quite all right with a host of set up (as probably now obvious).]
The hug was everything that Adam wanted and more. It solidified everything he felt during Shiro's absence, that in spite of everything, he was everything that Adam wanted and more. Flowers might have been nice, but there was certainly a 90% chance that Adam would have used them to hit Shiro at some point during their talk during the night. Might have been better than his fists, and Shiro should be glad that Adam still is limited by the strengths of the human body or else that dead limb might have been worse. But they needed that night together, to get a lot of stuff off their chests.
He listened quietly to everything Shiro had told him about his time out in space. He understood those urges, having had his own during the separation. It was only a little surprising to hear that Lance and Keith were the primary outlets for them, but mostly because he still thought of them as students. The lack of memories of his time during the arena, how he was used as more than just a gladiator... Adam was about ready to shove Keith out of the way and hop into the Black Lion to deal with them personally.
Shiro was broken, that Adam could see, but he still loved the man. He was alive, he was alive, and now that Shi-- Takashi was alive, Adam wasn't going to let go of him again. The road to recovery was going to be long, hard, and full of bumps, but Adam wouldn't have agreed to marry Takashi if he wasn't willing to go through that with him at his side. That was why they failed the first time, having spent so much time together before becoming engaged, they forgot how they needed to work together, talk to each other, about what they were feeling. They won't make that mistake this time.
That first morning they woke up together again, Adam feeling Shiro's body, warm and alive in his arms, he knew that this was the right choice. Those nights together, as well, only served to heighten those feelings. Shiro was everything, and he's sure to leave reminders of that, so that Shiro can never forget.
Adam holds back a laugh at how they came to the pool with the same idea. Save walking around naked for their rooms, when they know that they can be alone. For the moment, this is fine. Adam walks towards Shiro, his own scars being lit up by the pool lights as he gets closer to the water. His smirk softens into a smile.
"It's a nice change, just one I never would have imagined from you." Adam reaches forward, placing a hand on Shiro's hip before pressing a kiss to his cheek. "You do too, Takashi."
He’d be lying if he said seeing his lover’s anger didn’t bring some warmth to his chest. Even if it also brought some numbness to his arm. But as much as he appreciated the rage over his treatment, Shiro himself would’ve caught Adam to prevent him from flying out in the Lion and attacking the Galra. It wasn’t a fight one man could win alone. Wasn’t something Adam needed to risk his life for. His fiancé should use that anger to help defend the Earth and her new allies, not attempt to settle a personal vendetta. What happened to him was wrong and tragic, but Shiro didn’t want his personal trauma to weight a burden on someone else. Especially not the man who meant the most to him. (And yes, he’s well aware flowers would’ve been giving Adam something to whack him with during the night. And knowing Adam, he’d make it effective.)
And then Adam agreed to marry him, despite all that Shiro had lost and all that he was now bringing to him. Part of him, incredibly, had hoped the man would say no. Definitively close that chapter. Make the choice for him. It’d be agonizing, but it would mean Adam would get to move forward to an easier partner. So Shiro thought. And yet, there was no hesitation. Only that firm answer, elation and determination in his eyes. Shiro could only stare at the man for a few seconds before everything went watery and he broke down against his lover’s chest. Feelings he never let anyone else see, emotions stopped up for two years… Just one of many hard nights. Hard but healing. Adam had his own burdens to handle. The Earth being invaded, the attempted defense, his almost death, the occupation, suffering… Shiro vowed to help him through those burdens as well.
Before, they had been naïve. Shiro put the mission before his partner while Adam put Shiro’s health over his dream. Both of them had been selfish and he wondered now if they really knew how to operate together back then. They were together so often back then… maybe they had simply forgotten they were separate people. Until that fateful day when things came to a head and their divergent paths broke apart. Like Adam, Shiro has no intention of making that mistake again. He can’t lose the man he loves twice.
Gray eyes silently wander over the other man’s body, taking in the exposed curves and sculpture of the Garrison pilot. Even Adam bore scars from the war. He’s filled with pride at the testaments of how strong his fiancé is for surviving. And boarded by guilt over leaving the man here to fight and struggle alone. The smile warms his chest and he gives an embarrassed little one in return for that comment. “I learned a lot of things I didn’t imagine I could do out there.” He closes his eyes, head tilting to offer his cheek into that kiss. “We’ve both had to.”
Turning to face him, Takashi flushes at the use of his first name, but reaches up to rest his metal hand against Adam’s cheek, thumb brushing at the corner of his mouth. Hearing Adam return that quiet praise means a lot to him. “Thank you.” As his thumb drifts back to his fiancé’s cheek, the warrior leans in and brings his mouth to Adam’s, kissing him full and hot amid the glow of the pool. It’s only held for a few seconds before Shiro wraps his arm around his lover’s waist and pulls him close, needy and affectionate.
[Exactly what he’s expecting here is unknown. He really doesn’t know much about who he’s getting involved with. The guy is a Hunter of some kind, lives in a repurposed mansion, is a reptilian humanoid (which he assumes is due to a mutation or experiment, maybe even magic), and they’re meeting up due to the ironic intermingling of pizza and blowjobs. Shiro doesn’t even know the guy’s name, something he realized a few minutes after the contact disconnected. That is probably a blunder on his part, but nothing he can do for it now. What he can do is follow up on the offer.
It’s not just for the experiment—which is probably one of the strangest ones he’s getting himself into—but also because what the man said triggered something inside him. Despite being not being “kept” by anyone’s choice but his own, Shiro still feels the unknown man wouldn’t have made such a statement if something weren’t also affecting that choice. Being a Paladin of Voltron, a soldier in the past, and an ex-slave of the Galra, he knew both the duties of a protector and the pains of a prisoner. If this reptilian man needed help… and not in the blowjobs and pizza kind of way… Shiro wanted to at least be able to offer him something.
He leaves the Black Lion nearby, shielded, and makes his way to the address and house. A small whistle blows through his lips. Mansion is right. This is impressive. Some of it’s rundown, as the guy mentioned, but there are parts that clearly show the place’s original strength and beauty. People live here. Perhaps it is a little strange to bring the Black Lion, but unfortunately, a nest of Hunters—even if he’s promised safe passage—is enough to make Shiro take precaution. He’s not going to be caught despite lowering his guard somewhat to trust a man he’s never met before.
Stepping up to the front foyer, Shiro lifts his arm and knocks on the door. A simple black sleeveless jacket is zipped up over a one-armed long-sleeved turtle neck of dark gray. It’s only one-armed because Shiro only has one arm. Well, one real arm. His right arm is replaced by a mechanical prosthetic of rather impressive technology, designed to mimic the shape and outline of his natural arm. Galra technology. A “gift” from his captors. The result of experimentation done on him. A pair of black pants and boots complete the ensemble in shades of gray. It’s not formal, but it’s neat at least.]
( there's a level of anticipation he didn't predict after he disconnected the small device. how he got it, why it seemed to fizzle out after their conversation... all luchino could do was hope that whoever this man was would find him without trouble. the idea that he could turn what amounts to a blind date into some kind of experiment is laughable; no, there are far more obvious desires that just bubble along the surface. the evil reptilian, luchino, giddy with delight that he found someone that wants to... meet him? won't immediately cower? his forked tongue slips out as he smiles to himself.
how amazing.
both eyes lock onto the descending lion and that is obviously not something he expects to see, nor the man stepping out. he looks strong. tough. he could easily rival the forward, whose prowess with some kind of ball while charging into an unexpecting hunter, could send them reeling. he's clearly made of sterner stuff.
how exciting.
luchino sniffs. he makes his way out of his room, down a level, and toward where the entrance is. the door will more than likely give way to the knock. and peering around it, would be the reptile man, whose eyes glitter in curiosity as it slowly (and somewhat menacingly) opens.
green overcoat. white shirt. trousers that barely fit and stretched around powerful thighs. hair, tied in rows. he would either look the part of a lizard playing a man, or a man playing a lizard. however shiro interprets, all luchino can do is offer a bow, one clawed hand over his chest and in front as he lowers his head. )
Greetings. ( his voice a hiss and whisper, he does his best to make it as warm as possible. ) I'm glad you found the estate without problems... come in. Mind the door, it'll close on you.
( luchino beckons the pilot in, waiting to gauge his response. )
[Shiro pauses when the door practically falls open at his knock. He’s left with his hand raised in the empty archway, peering inside with a small amount of guard and tepidity. This is a Hunter’s den after all. It takes no time at all to lock onto the person inside. He… was not kidding when he said a reptilian humanoid creature. The glittering eyes, green and cream scales, a long powerful tail, even the digitigrade legs with claws scream something right out of a comic or dinosaur scene.
But the clothes only reaffirm that this man used to be human. From the overcoat to the shirt and those incredibly-tight-fitting trousers. Shiro’s learned to size people up via their bodies as well as their attitude and presence, so there’s no way he missed the power in those thighs and the man’s tail. The look in his eye, however, that menacing glitter of gold with its serpentine ebony slit… yeah, that makes him tense up.
Shiro still sees him more as a man who became reptilian rather than the other way around. The bow is… actually rather charming, and he relaxes before stepping into the once-grand home.]
Good evening. [Shiro notes the attempted warmth despite the hiss and offers a smile before returning the bow as well.] Your address was clear enough.
[Thanks for the door warning. He glances behind him at the now-closed panel, but then turns back to the other man and moves within arm’s length to offer his flesh arm in greeting.]
Takashi Shirogane. Or “Shiro” for short. I’m sorry I didn’t get your name before.
It's easy to get lost out there, but it seems that you've traveled here using a very unconventional vehicle.
( his movements are careful. measured, so that he wouldn't appear to be some kind of prehistoric predator that some have believed him to be. no, he's the same man who somehow found his way into this form; a curious being who allowed a curious and mysterious creature to chomp down and spread its venom into his body. as he leans forward, he can't help but taste the air with that serpentine tongue; a short peek and nothing more. the last thing he wants to do is intimidate shiro by giving him a love tap with that tapered, slick muscle. )
These halls are long. They might even go into eternity... care that you don't lose sight of me. ( a huff, and then a snicker. ) Though if you'd like, you can hold onto my tail.
( he'd offer his hand but they're scaled and clawed, deadly talons that can easily rend anything he puts his muscle behind. perhaps they're soft, but he can't risk hurting his guest.
despite them, luchino never thought about using them. no, his skill with a kukri was good enough, and even then he would normally strike someone he pursued with the grip of it. it's all intimidation; fear that would send someone tumbling down and keep them still. fear that he doesn't want to push onto shiro. even though he sounds tough, luchino could tell: there's something that makes him uncomfortable and it's the reptile's job to calm those nerves. one way or another. )
The exterior and interior don't match up. It's even larger inside than the building looks from the outside. To what extent, I'm not sure.
( there's a left and a right at the end of the hall, and he takes right. )
But for what it's worth? The device I used to communicate with the outside world, it shorted out after I was able to place an order... but I feel that no matter what, you will not be trapped here. You don't deserve to be here.
It might be a bit much, but it was the easiest way to reach this location.
[And the safest security in case anything did go wrong. But he’ll keep that information to himself. Meeting and learning about this man are more important topics to go on.
Shiro notes the other’s movements just as well. They have purpose to them, deliberately done to act more human than reptilian. Only more proof that this man had once been exactly that. He wonders what happened to him, if it was by choice or not, and if there is some way to help him, perhaps return him back to normal. A black brow quirks upward as that serpentine tongue slithers out into the air, tasting it the same way a snake does. Shiro definitely doesn’t look intimidated at all. Mostly curious. He’s been around a lot of aliens and some have some… interesting ways to greet people.]
I’ll keep close to you. [He does exactly that, moving up to the reptilian man, well within his arm’s reach (and his tail). The little huff and snicker give him one more human quality and Shiro glances at the long, lizard-like appendage.] If I start to fall behind, I’ll do that.
[Unlikely though. He may not have his paladin armor with him—for similar reason of not wanting to appear a threat to the other man—but still has a decent hunting and tracking prowess. His thoughts about the mansion, however, are answered by mentions of long halls, an eternity within them, and the mysterious indication of the exterior versus the interior not matching.]
As in magic or an alternate dimension?
[More than a year ago, he would’ve dismissed such notions. Now, however, he fully believes in both and accepts it without a second glance. He keeps pace with the other man, his interest in him gradually and steadily pushing away the wariness he has regarding the mansion. Sure, he’ll still be on guard, but rather than just for himself, he’s keeping an eye out for his companion as well. Protective.
Shiro takes the right with him, boots sure on the ground.]
No one deserves to be trapped. Not even you. Maybe there’s a way I can help. Even if it’s just getting you a more reliable communication device.
[Though he knows even now that he wants to do more for this Hunter than simply give him a sturdy phone. Still, Shiro’s not a naïve person. There may well be a reason that this man is trapped here. But he’ll give him the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise.]
assuming popping in here is okay!
Date: 2019-05-04 06:31 pm (UTC)(continued from here.)
I'll answer honestly.
assumed correctly! glad to have ya~
Date: 2019-05-04 07:23 pm (UTC)I see.
As an angel?
why thank you~
Date: 2019-05-04 07:58 pm (UTC)I don't expect you to remember me.
Re: why thank you~
Date: 2019-05-04 11:19 pm (UTC)He nods when the other man reassures him about not remembering.

Date: 2019-05-04 11:56 pm (UTC)It's not something he's going to push or question, though.

Date: 2019-06-12 09:48 pm (UTC)[He nods at that, because it's certainly true.

Date: 2019-06-15 08:03 pm (UTC)Just the world, hm.

Date: 2019-06-15 10:36 pm (UTC)He's expecting to go back home at some point.

Date: 2019-06-16 11:56 pm (UTC)The Paladin frowns a little at the answer, but there’s no denying the slight relief in his eyes.

Date: 2019-06-17 11:58 pm (UTC)If that's the case, he'll just insist Shiro go back to his living space so nobody takes advantage of him.

Date: 2019-09-14 08:08 pm (UTC)Glad to hear it.

Date: 2019-09-15 08:21 pm (UTC)You did?

Date: 2019-09-15 11:27 pm (UTC)The other question, however, earns a thoughtful hum and expression.

Date: 2019-09-17 11:46 am (UTC)Well, that night you didn't know I was watching, so it's a moot point.
[He looks up as Shiro pulls him close, smiling into the kiss.]
no subject
Date: 2019-09-18 01:19 am (UTC)But when Keith drops that little secret, the Paladin twitches his head back in surprise.] You never… [He knew Keith wasn’t all that social of a person, but he at least thought a growing teenager like him would probably have found some kind of release beyond just his hand.

From:No Running by the Pools ~ for "diefocal"
Date: 2019-11-02 03:02 pm (UTC)It took a while for him to actually find the courage to approach the man he had left behind.
Not that Shiro abused that privilege… Just… maybe the other Paladins and their not-so-by-the-books inclinations had rubbed off on him.
no running, just other forms of intense exercise
Date: 2019-11-02 07:29 pm (UTC)The minute the debrief was over, he calmly went back to his room and broke down.
no subject
Date: 2019-11-03 12:03 am (UTC)Shiro didn’t “move on” so much as was a man with urges.
I am quite all right with a host of set up (as probably now obvious).]
no subject
Date: 2019-11-03 01:13 am (UTC)He listened quietly to everything Shiro had told him about his time out in space.
"You do too, Takashi."
no subject
Date: 2019-11-03 02:26 am (UTC)And then Adam agreed to marry him, despite all that Shiro had lost and all that he was now bringing to him.

From:on pizza and bjs - locked to <user name=luchino>
Date: 2020-09-06 01:56 am (UTC)It’s not just for the experiment—which is probably one of the strangest ones he’s getting himself into—but also because what the man said triggered something inside him.

Date: 2020-09-06 04:29 am (UTC)how amazing.
both eyes lock onto the descending lion and that is obviously not something he expects to see, nor the man stepping out. he looks strong. tough. he could easily rival the forward, whose prowess with some kind of ball while charging into an unexpecting hunter, could send them reeling. he's clearly made of sterner stuff.
how exciting.
luchino sniffs. he makes his way out of his room, down a level, and toward where the entrance is. the door will more than likely give way to the knock. and peering around it, would be the reptile man, whose eyes glitter in curiosity as it slowly (and somewhat menacingly) opens.
green overcoat. white shirt. trousers that barely fit and stretched around powerful thighs. hair, tied in rows. he would either look the part of a lizard playing a man, or a man playing a lizard. however shiro interprets, all luchino can do is offer a bow, one clawed hand over his chest and in front as he lowers his head. )
Greetings. ( his voice a hiss and whisper, he does his best to make it as warm as possible. ) I'm glad you found the estate without problems... come in. Mind the door, it'll close on you.
( luchino beckons the pilot in, waiting to gauge his response. )

Date: 2020-09-06 05:24 am (UTC)But the clothes only reaffirm that this man used to be human.

Date: 2020-09-06 04:07 pm (UTC)( his movements are careful. measured, so that he wouldn't appear to be some kind of prehistoric predator that some have believed him to be. no, he's the same man who somehow found his way into this form; a curious being who allowed a curious and mysterious creature to chomp down and spread its venom into his body. as he leans forward, he can't help but taste the air with that serpentine tongue; a short peek and nothing more. the last thing he wants to do is intimidate shiro by giving him a love tap with that tapered, slick muscle.

Date: 2020-09-06 05:55 pm (UTC)[And the safest security in case anything did go wrong.
