[ There's a part of Mananan that wants to reach out to Shiro, but he holds back, knowing that there's little reason for a comforting touch and that part of it is driven by the fact that this is the first time they've really been this close for this long. ]
I don't expect you to remember me. It's okay. [ It's said with a soft smile, understanding. And it's true. He's never made a great effort to push himself into Shiro's memory. It's not something he's supposed to do, after all. ] I've seen you through some of those times, but I wasn't visible to you.
[ His captivity, for example. But he doesn't elaborate on that, instead letting his hands come to rest behind him as he leans back on them. ]
Most of my job has nothing to do with you. We watch over human dreams and creations since we don't typically watch over humans themselves anymore. But sometimes an angel ends up tethered to a human by fate and... [ Mananan lifts a hand and waves it between the two of them. ]
When it comes to you, I can feel it when you're feeling negative emotions, the more intense, the more I feel drawn to you. I think it was embarrassment that brought me to you last night... once you lost your pants.
[Shiro rests his elbows on his knees, still looking at the other man with a small bit of “studying” going on in his gray eyes. Mananan is an angel. He doesn’t really look like an angel, as far as Shiro’s mind says. But those wings before weren’t a trick. If this guy really is his angel… it’s probably as odd for him as it is for Shiro. Just, not in the same way.
He nods when the other man reassures him about not remembering. Still makes him feel a little bad, not recognizing his own angel… Not that he ever knew what to look for. The mention of seeing him through some of “those” times earns a small frown from the other man. A very human part of him wants to instantly lash out and ask why Mananan hadn’t been there for him during those horrible times. A whole year of captivity, slavery, brutality, and worse, and his own angel had been… there?! The question burns on his lips, but it’s because of those feelings that Shiro deliberately bites the question back. There are things he doesn’t know here and accusing or blaming the other man isn’t going to help. Besides… angels aren’t tickets to get out of life’s suffering.
Hell, for all he knows, Mananan could be the very reason he didn’t die during his year-long enslavement. Who’s to say the near miss of those blades hadn’t been his own angel nudging them aside? Do Galra and other aliens have angels? Oh now there’s a question…for later.]
Nothing to do with me? [Okay, that instantly throws him for a loop. Maybe he’d taken “angel” to mean “guardian angel” stock type. Chagrinned, Shiro frowns and laces his fingers together for something to do as he listens.] Dreams and creations, huh. Just watch to see what they do, or are you cultivating them?
[He glances to the angel again when he goes on about being tethered by fate. Okay… Mananan’s drawn to his negative emotions. That’s awkw—His pants?! Shiro goes beet red.] I summoned my angel because I lost my pants?!
[Prisoner for a year and Voltron war for another year and his embarrassment over his pants is what finally summons Mananan to him. Talk about mortifying. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so awkward!]
[ Up until recently, Mananan's followed a lot of rules. Rules that he's currently breaking and rules that he broke the previous night in revealing himself to Shiro for more than just a glimpse in passing. Following rules is what's kept a barrier between them, what's stopped him from just pulling Shiro out of captivity and sparing him the pain of it. But Mananan wouldn't be surprised or hurt to be lashed out at over his presumed negligence when it comes to protecting his human. He knows it probably seems like he's done little to nothing for him before now.
It's not something he's going to push or question, though. When Shiro seems to take that without a word of protest about it, Mananan is fine with letting it go. ]
You're my priority, but I'm not supposed to be with you all the time. If I feel that you need me, I drop everything to get to you. But, for the most part, I'm working here. [ Because no one needs an angel hovering over their shoulder constantly and it would get a little boring to follow without being seen. ] We sort of keep them in line. Every dream or creation or fiction or fantasy has their own world and we manage them, I guess you could say. We hold on to them even after humans forget about them.
[ Mananan can't help letting out a laugh when Shiro turns red, the surprise of it making him realize how it sounds. ]
You've summoned me a lot! This is just the first time I've appeared to you like this. It was such a harmless reason to need help and I thought it would be nice to finally talk to you... [ His smile sort of fades a little as he straightens up. ] I should've just brought you home and put you to bed and left. If anyone finds out about this, they'll want to make you feel like it was all a dream.
[Lashing out at someone who’s supposedly been watching over you for a good while isn’t really polite. In the end, Shiro just lets the urge go as well. What happened happened and he doubts Mananan stood by and did nothing of his own will. If he’s caring enough to come get Shiro due to loss of pants, there’s no way he would’ve been calloused enough to ignore the other parts earlier in life.]
Your priority, huh. [Shiro arches a brow in interest. Hearing someone say that about him is… strange. Because he’s heard things like it before at different times in his life. Not all of them good, but along the same lines. He nods at the mention of Mananan staying for his work here, however. He can respect that.] That makes sense. [The other part, however, the dreams and creations and fantasies having their own worlds, leaves him stupefied and blinking at the angel.] Wait… so lets say I wrote a story. That story would have its own world and you’d… manage that? Even if I forgot I ever wrote it?
[On the one hand, that’s really cool. On the other hand, that sounds like a lot of work… Even for an angel. No wonder Mananan’s busy all the time if that’s how it works.
The laugh doesn’t help his flush though and the pilot looks away with a huff. The “harmless” part of it and Mananan using it to finally meet him… well… more reasons his face is red. But when the angel straightens and drops that bomb, Shiro instantly tenses and looks back at him, color fading back to normal.] You’ll… get in trouble for meeting with me? [There’s still a small part of him that wonders if this is all a dream anyways, but if Mananan is everything he says, well… Shiro doesn’t want to just “hi-bye” his angel!]
Mm. My priority. [ It's said with a slight nod as he considers what Shiro poses, another nod following before he speaks up. ] I wouldn't necessarily be the one to handle it, but angels and demons working in the company would. I work in the horror zone, so I help deal with the things residing there.
[ Mananan can't imagine Shiro writing something in that genre, so he doubts he'd be watching over that world. But he'd certainly go out of his way to visit it, just for curiosity's sake.
He ends up finally shifting forward and reaching out, one hand gently brushing against the back of Shiro's. ] I'm not sure how much trouble I'd end up in, but things would become stricter. Someone else would probably supervise any visits I make to you to make sure I don't talk to you again. There are a lot of rules about angels showing themselves to humans and most of them are old and outdated, but they'll still enforce them.
[It feels weird to have someone call him that… in a positive sense. He’s been “priority” for enemies to take out before. Not a good feeling. A confused look appears on his face at the answer.] I… Okay. [Trying to get an explanation for “the company” and why Mananan’s in the horror zone would probably take too long. He’s just going to accept it.] So angels and demons work together?
[That’s a strange thought. And yes, Mananan’s correct in assuming Shiro wouldn’t actually perform that example. He’s not much of a writer in the entertainment sense. Can write a report and other military documents, such as lessons and plans, but not much in the creative side.
Shiro glances down at the hand brushing over his. He’s quiet, flesh fingers still folded with the metal once.] I know about outdating rules still being demanded. Happens a lot in the military, unfortunately. [He frowns again. On the one hand, he doesn’t want to risk getting Mananan in trouble. On the other hand, does continuing this or ending this create more risk? That… he’s unable to answer.]
I obviously can’t say anything to get you in trouble. So I guess the choice is up to you. I don’t want you to endanger yourself for me though…
[ Shiro is definitely a good sort of priority. The kind worth putting first. Mananan notes the confused look and smiles a bit. ] It'd be easier to show you, I'm sure. But, yeah, we work together. Since the Holy War ended and humans have less of a need for any of us, an agreement was formed between Heaven and Hell. It gives us something to do and keeps humanity's creations taken care of.
[ Which is probably still not clearing much up, but Mananan knows it'd probably take a while to fully explain things. He's willing, but he doesn't want to bore Shiro back to sleep. ]
Angels and humans aren't that different. It's not surprising to know that it's the same way in the military. Angels were guardians and soldiers a few hundred years ago. [ That earns a light shrug as Mananan's fingers slip away from the back of Shiro's hand. ]
Some higher ups are strict, but I'm not endangering myself or you. The most that'll happen is someone with the ability to manage it will wipe your memory of me. They might try to sever the link between us, but I don't know if that's ever happened or if it's just a rumor... and I think you'd have to be a woman for them to go that far anyway.
[Show him? The confusion on his face shifts more to something curious.] Sure. I’d like that. [Getting to see it for himself should throw away any lingering doubts in his head. And probably clear up more than a few things. Mentions of a war and humans needing less attention did seem to have a certain logic to it. Though he’s still mostly tripping up on the “humanity’s creations” part. That just seems… weird. And infinite. There has to be some sort of limit or logic behind it. Not something he can glean sitting here.] I’m glad there’s peace.
[Even if it is strange to think of two beings whose very natures seemed bent on having them eternally at war. If angels and demons can be peaceful with each other, then Shiro’s got some more hope for their mortal universe.]
Not so different how? [He gestures to Mananan, finally unlacing his hands.] I mean, you look like any other human, minus the wings. [Shiro nods at the comment of military up in Heaven.] I figured that was part of it.
Provided I’m not going to wake up soon, I’d rather not have my memory wiped. [He’s already dealt with amnesia once. But his expression hardens a little at the rest of it.] I don’t want our link severed. Not when you’ve spent so long wanting to meet me. [And back to confused brow quirk.] What does being woman have to do with it?
[ Showing him will be breaking... a lot more rules, but Mananan's not the keen on following them anymore anyway. Shiro isn't an average human. He's dealt with so much more than any human should be allowed to deal with. So he's sure that learning about angels and Heaven and what they're doing up here isn't going to have a drastic impact.
There's a lot to unpack in what they're talking about, but Mananan can't help smiling at the look on Shiro's face when he says why he doesn't want their link severed. ] Pregnancy between an angel and a human can be a problem, but we're both men.
[ It's said casually before he moves on, gently catching Shiro's hand -- flesh, not metal -- as he moves to stand up. If allowed, he'll lead the other man over to a window. If not, he'll still approach it and urge Shiro to look out as well. Outside, a fair distance below, is what looks to be an entire city sitting in the clouds while they're in a massive building that seems to be on the outskirts, giving them a decent view of much of the city. ]
See? We live like humans. We work. Date. Some have families. [ His wings fold away and disappear behind his back as he glances at Shiro and smiles. ] I'd show you around down there if I could, but you're obviously a human. Anyone who sees you will know it immediately.
[No. After all he’s gone through, facing an entire army of alien warships isn’t going to get much of a rise out of him in the negative sense. Determination to continue forward and succeed or even retreat if that will save lives? That’s what the rise will give him. Learning about a new world/realm of angels and demons looking over humanity and their creations? It’s… definitely different, but his head can handle it without breaking.
It's just going to take a while for everything to sink in. Shiro rubs at the side of his head a few times. Still feels a bit fuzzy from whatever he’d been hammered with last night. Remind him never to go challenge Hunk to a drinking conte--]
Pregnancy?! [Shiro jerks upright and stares at the other man. He’s momentarily speechless. Severing a bond between angel and human over interracial intercourse?! That’s where his brain goes with that bit of information. Mananan offers that little caveat to comfort him and Shiro’s face gets a little pink at the suggestion. But before he can get another comment in, his hand’s caught and Shiro glances down at it. Only to stand up when he’s drawn to do so. It’s kind of awkward, walking around in a jacket and shirt with just some boxer briefs on…
Anyways, he looks out the window when indication. All embarrassing thoughts fly out of his head at the sight below him. A city in the clouds. He’s speechless again, mouth hanging half-open in surprise and admiration. It’s… unreal. He’s seen so many things in space during his travels, even stations and cities like this… but something about it still catches him in the gut. And the way Mananan goes on casually, linking humans and angels together, the entire thing unfolds in a breathtaking revelation.
Shiro leans closer to the window, tilting his head to see more as he can.] This is incredible. Are we really in Heaven? Like, a location? Not the “am I dead” kind.
I don't think they're big on angels or demons having relationships with humans at all, but pregnancy would be a bigger problem. [ There are a lot of questions that could be potential issues there, but Mananan isn't that worried about it. Like he said, they're both men. And it's not like he plans to try to drag Shiro into bed with him. Spending time together shouldn't be a regular thing after this, even if he'll be able to reveal himself to Shiro in the future.
It's interesting to watch the way he reacts to seeing what the city looks like. Mananan realizes he's never really considered what kind of reaction might come from seeing this. It's so normal for him and those he's surrounded by that he never thinks about it. ]
Yeah. This is Heaven. [ He rests his shoulder against the wall beside the window, watching Shiro stare out of it with amusement. ]
It's really that amazing? I always thought humans would find it underwhelming.
I’ll… keep that in mind. [As Mananan said, there’s no danger of pregnancy between them. He nods and just focuses on looking out at the city below them. It’s a strange feeling. Does he want to explore this new reality or does he want to let it fade and just pretend it all a dream? Mananan’s made it clear he’s wanted to meet Shiro and despite the Paladin’s duties, just telling the angel not to bother him isn’t something he wants. It can get lonely in space. Having someone reliable to talk to and visit with is a very tempting offer. His human side craves the opportunity. A year of lonely slavery has left more than just physical scars.
Shiro’s attention goes from one area of the city to the next, peering over the buildings and the clouds, the perimeter and the center, of course checking the skies around it to see if there are any flying crafts. When Mananan confirms the question, he gapes at him for a few seconds, then turns back to the window, more awe in his eyes again.] Yeah, it really is amazing…
Underwhelming? No. [Honestly, part of his wonder is that it does look so similar to an Earthling city.] If I didn’t know, I’d think we were still on Earth. [Maybe because he can’t see the details, but still…] I assume everyone has their own angel? Even if the interaction’s not allowed? [Another glance to Mananan.] Often.
[ As much as meeting after this shouldn't be something they do, if Shiro says he wants to, Mananan will oblige. But he's got no plans to force his company on Shiro. He's done enough of that with this meeting and he knows that he'd prefer knowing someone wants him around over pushing himself on them. That goes for anyone, including his own human.
Mananan's left smiling as he glances out of the window as well. ] Mm, I don't think so. I think those who need angels end up with a link, but we aren't assigned to humans anymore. Your teammates, the other paladins? I think all of you ended up connected with angels at some point. But the average human doesn't need us. Technology and science have bumped us and demons out of the lives of most humans.
[ It was something that happened before Mananan was even born, so he only knows about it through history he's learned. Taking a half step closer to Shiro, he nods out of the window, pointing toward a ledge that rises through the clouds, a small indication that there's land hidden in there, despite how soft everything looks. There's a fairly large house on the ledge, still visible from where they are. ]
[He’ll consider it. Mananan’s made a point to say it’s possible and not much trouble will come from it… so long as no one finds out. Latter part’s the issue. He’ll have to think about it. Mostly he wants to make sure the angel won’t get in trouble because of him. He doesn’t like sacrifices made for his sake, so used to being the one doing the sacrificing. But he can’t just tell the guy to leave either. Mananan sounds like he'd really wanted to meet him. Yes, time to think it over.
When he’s not staring down at a Heaven city. The explanation’s a bit strange, but also makes sense when he thinks about it.] You’ve got a point. Humans have come a long way over the past century. I don’t think all of us would not want to meet personal angels or demons. [Well, ignoring the stereotypes for the latter.] I’m glad the other paladins have their own connections… They’re very important to me. [Knowing he had an angel and his friends didn’t wouldn’t have sat well with Shiro.]
Hm? [The paladin looks at the indicated area, not minding Mananan’s proximity. Takes him a second to find the place, but he does quickly and narrows his eyes on the land. And the house that’s there. A black brow quirks upward.] That’s your home? Can we go see it? [And instantly remembers he’s not supposed to be there.] Never mind. Forget I said that.
They have. And with free will, it's not like there's a whole lot angels can do now. But there are cases where we're needed. Like humans disappearing into space to fight a war. [ The paladins are definitely a special case and Mananan's equally glad that the rest have angels as well since he couldn't protect all of them on his own. The only unfortunate part is that they focus on Earth and humans, so any companions they have aren't being watched over in the same way. But Mananan has a hard time thinking that other planets lack some kind of divine presence when Earth has one.
The request to see where he lived is surprising. Just as surprising as the sudden turnaround. Both leave him looking over at Shiro, curious. ] I want to show you, but... [ His gaze angles downward toward Shiro's lack of pants. ]
How about I bring you back another time and show you then? When you're fully dressed. My father lives there and I'd rather avoid him, so we'll just sneak in. My room has a nice view and it's closer to the city and the weather station, so you'll be able to see things easier.
[ Mananan tilts his head slightly. ] Maybe I should save showing you anything until then. You probably don't want to wander around here without pants either.
Yeah. Earth wasn’t ready for something like that… I don’t like what happened to me, but in the end, if gave us the chance to prepare and fight back. [Over a long and arduous sequence of events. Knowing that his friends have their own angels, even if they don’t need them now during their time of peace, definitely eases Shiro’s conscience and acceptance of Mananan’s position in his life. He’s still keeping the question about whether or not alien’s have angels of their own in the back of his mind. But considering the space war comment above, Shiro’s starting to think the angels and demons are native to Earth. An… odd thought, but at the same time, it’s actually fitting. Considering the angel in front of him looks nigh-human in the first place. But more on that later.
Right now, Shiro is a curious person. He’s well-aware of “curiosity can kill the cat” and definitely got his luck in spades for that. But in the end, he can’t help the interest that piques up inside him. Mananan’s expression makes him feel like his own curiosity’s well-founded. The “but”, however, earns a small pout of a frown… at least until the angel points out why.
Shiro glances down at himself and then to the side in embarrassment. Oh right…] That would be best. [It’s a bit of a mutter, but agreement all the same. He pushes the embarrassment down and returns his focus to Mananan.] All right. [So asides from this room, it’s kind of a “stuck” situation. Shiro looks out the window again.] I guess it’s best I go back home then. To at least get some pants on.
Hearing you say that... it makes your position make a lot of sense. You were meant to be a leader. [ It's admirable, really. Mananan's spent a fair amount of time with Shiro off and on thanks to everything he's been through, but it's different to talk to him now. It's interesting and it just further solidifies some of the things he's already thought about him.
The look he gets for his answer almost makes Mananan want to take him even without pants, but he's glad that the reason is understood. He doesn't imagine Shiro would be keen on wandering around without pants while also trying to avoid other people. And it'll give Mananan a little bit of time to ways to make him pass as one of them a little more easily.
With that answer, Mananan turns to Shiro and opens his arms. ] Come on. Normally we have to use the transport area to get to humans, but you guys are a special case. So we can leave from here.
[Shiro offers a small smile at the praise.] Thanks. I hear that a lot. [Even Allura said similar while introducing the Paladins to their Lions. Shiro knows he’s a leader and even though he doesn’t think of himself as something incredibly special, he’s glad to protect those who look up to him. Leading them into battle in the best way so as to make sure they all can get out with no casualties. Shiro finds himself wondering just how much of his life Mananan’s been around to witness…
And yes, the angel’s right in that assumption. Shiro, despite his curiosity, has no desire to skulk around trying to dodge sentries without any pants on. That’s… something he’d do in an extreme case, but not something he’ll willingly do when there’s a choice to do otherwise. He trusts Mananan to know what is safe for him to do, however, so defers to the angel’s suggestions.
He quirks a brow when the angel opens his arms, but then moves over to step into his reach without further hesitation. A teleportation hug? That’s interesting.] Is this something the room does or is it one of your own skills?
[ Mananan smiles in return, but doesn't say anything else about it. He's probably witnessed more than Shiro would like to hear about and he has no intention of bringing it all up again, most of it coming from his captivity. So he leaves it, more than willing to move on to present problems that are easily solved.
Something that's very easily solved once Shiro steps closer. Wrapping his arms around him is just the easiest way to handle moving them from one place to another. He carried Shiro the night before, but it's not really necessary now. And while hand holding can work, it's just less worry with more contact if the other person is just traveling with no ability to transport them as well. ]
Neither. [ He wraps an arm around Shiro then pulls something out of his pocket to show it to him -- a small, glowing blue hexagonal badge. Then he wraps his other arm around Shiro as well, holding on to him, wings opening behind him and spreading wide...
... then they're in Shiro's room in the blink of an eye, Mananan's wings disappearing again as he lets go of him. ] It's a mix of technology and magic.
[Well, maybe not hear about certain things in detail, but he’d be open ears for some talk. Captivity time… yeah, best left unsaid. He’s learned some of what went on during that year and he’s not sure he wants to know more than the scant details he’s already recovered. Still, other moments might be fun to explore. Or embarrassing. Like the obvious human question of “were you there when I showered” or the like.
Shiro instinctively slips an arm around Mananan’s waist when the other man embraces him like that. At least this time around he’s conscious enough to do so. It’s disturbing to think what he might’ve been doing the night before. Did Mananan carry him like some kind of wilting ragdoll, or was it bridal style? Or over the shoulder… The embrace, regardless of why, does the two-part reaction of slight tensing and slight draw. Hugging a stranger isn’t something Shiro does. But after the captivity, there’s a lingering vein of touch starvation he sometimes has to deal with. The longing for human contact.]
Neither?
[Shiro glances down at the sudden reveal of the pocket decide. Instantly he’s curious about it. Not as much a tech wiz as Pidge of Hunk, he’s still interested in the technology. At least until Mananan opens his wings and the human’s quick to shift attention to that. The way they spread behind him, wide and—
…
What just happened?! They’re in his room! Shiro’s mouth drops halfway and he stares around them.] Whoa… That… I’ve never done something like that. [The Lions can go extremely fast, and he’s been through wormholes, but that was… blink.] Technology and magic? Like Haggar… [A witch who used magic and technology together. Long story. Shiro’s not a fan of her, to put it lightly.]
[ He can feel Shiro tense under his touch and it's part of the reason he lets go as easily as he does once they arrive. Mananan can be forward, but he's learned to save that for times when someone seems interested. And, that aside, he knows he shouldn't get more attached to Shiro than he already is. He already recognizes that this isn't going to end quite as easily as bringing him home.
Mananan won't abandon or ignore Shiro if he wants more contact. Especially if the contact involves this level of amazement. It's more amusing than the angel thought it would be and he finds himself offering the glowing badge to him to inspect once they've arrived. ]
I don't think it's classified. The explanation I got was that it helps connect the tether between us. I can feel when you need me because of it, but I would normally need to fly to you. Flying isn't an option to get to you, though, so they fused some kind of detection magic into the ID badge. [ It comes with a shrug afterward as Mananan looks around and moves to drop down on the edge of Shiro's bed, looking up at him. ]
I don't have that kind of magic, so I don't know much more than you do. I just know that it gets me to you or places you've been and that's what matters.
[Shiro’s okay with the close contact. The initial part’s just habit now. Annoying, but unfortunately that’s part of the trauma package. He’s grateful the angel doesn’t draw attention to it by springing away or saying something. Still, the other quiet longing is there as well, seeking the warmth of a gentle touch that doesn’t turn into a harsh grip or claws on his skin. And beyond all that, the marvel at what just occurred definitely pushes all the rest away.
When Mananan offers him the badge, Shiro picks it up with a mixture of interest and care. He’s handled strange things before and knows not to take them without attention. Turning the glowing item over a few times, Shiro eyes it, looking for any details that might explain it. Or at least just pique his interest more. Gray eyes flick up to the other man.] The tether between us…
So detection magic and an ID badge. [Now he’s looking to see if there’s information or something about Mananan on the badge or if it’s something about himself. There’s a sigh as the angel sits down on the edge of his bed and he nods at the man’s admission of his limited knowledge.] This would be really handy.
[He offers a small smile when Mananan mentions being able to feel when he needed him. Then moves to take a seat beside his angel.] What constitutes me “needing” you? [He understands the war and captivity had their reasons, but now in this time of peace, when would he need his angel? Asides from being drunk and losing his pants. Definitely not the ordinary for Shiro at all.]
[ The badge is fairly simple, a glowing blue hexagon with little else to it. It's light and clipped to the end of a lanyard, usually meant to be worn around the neck. Mananan tends to keep his in his pocket unless otherwise required, so he tends to take it out as needed. Despite the simplicity, it would get Shiro around a lot of place in the building they just left, serving as an ID, keycard, and more, in the case of his own.
He watches as Shiro looks at it, letting out a soft laugh. ] It is really handy. I get the feeling you guys won't be far behind on this kind of technology, though.
[ Mananan considers pointing out that Shiro has access to pants now, but he doesn't bother to say it as he's joined. It's not like it's a big deal after he's seen him in this state this long now. A few more minutes won't hurt.
It leaves him to focus on the question instead, tilting his head a little. ] It's usually triggered by negative emotions, but... you didn't know I existed before. [ He goes quiet for a few moments, thoughtful. ] If you need or want me, just call out for me or send me a text. I think it should work from here and you have my number now. I'll show up, even if you just want some company while you fall asleep.
[Shiro turns the item over in his hand a few more times, noticing the lanyard dangling from it. He can’t recall Mananan wearing it like a necklace, so he obviously keeps it in his pocket or something. (He’d missed seeing the guy pull it out the first time, too busy distracted by the view out the window earlier.) Shiro would be interested to see where in the building they could go, but… clothing first.]
Really? [He looks back at the item again before giving a thoughtful sound and then handing it back to the angel.] We’re advancing, but I don’t know about personal teleportation. We’re only able to do wormhole travel thanks to the Alteans. [Reaching the planet Pluto had been a historical feat just by rocket fuel two years ago.]
[And yes, he does have access to his clothes, but… there’s a conversation happening and he’s going to need a shower before he pulls something clean on. He can’t remember where Mananan picked him up last night anyways, so… Shiro rests his elbows on his knees and his chin on his laced fingers while the angel answers him.] That’s frustrating, knowing you’re only called when I’m in a bad spot. [With this peaceful time, that’s not going to be frequent at all. Still… the other answer earns a small hum again.] I’ll probably text you.
[Standing in his room or somewhere and calling out the angel’s name is… not something he sees himself doing. Despite all the times he’s shouted “Form Voltron!” to his team. The mention of company, however, makes him smile, a soft and grateful thing.] Thank you. You… You’re welcome to stay the night tonight if you want.
Mm. I think having access to some of the things you all have access to now will help. It might take a little while longer, but I think it'll happen. Humans caught up to Heaven's level of technology pretty quickly, all things considered. [ Of course, living forever can kind of skew the way someone thinks about time. A human lifetime is pretty small in comparison to a lot of things, but Mananan doesn't really stop to consider that.
He accepts his badge and slips it into his pocket, assuming he won't need it too quickly. ] It is, but that's why I haven't had to follow you around constantly, so it's been good for your privacy, at least. [ The thought of receiving texts from Shiro makes Mananan brighten up a bit, though he knows that he's already going too far.
And when he hears the offer, he almost immediately opens his mouth to accept, barely stopping himself as he considers Shiro. ] Would you like me to stay the night? I'd be happy to, but I don't want you to think that you have to have me around just because I'm your angel.
why thank you~
Date: 2019-05-04 07:58 pm (UTC)I don't expect you to remember me.
Re: why thank you~
Date: 2019-05-04 11:19 pm (UTC)He nods when the other man reassures him about not remembering.

Date: 2019-05-04 11:56 pm (UTC)It's not something he's going to push or question, though.

Date: 2019-05-05 12:28 am (UTC)Your priority, huh.

Date: 2019-05-05 12:55 am (UTC)[ Mananan can't imagine Shiro writing something in that genre, so he doubts he'd be watching over that world.

Date: 2019-05-05 03:42 am (UTC)[That’s a strange thought.
I don’t want you to endanger yourself for me though…
no subject
Date: 2019-05-05 03:58 am (UTC)[ Which is probably still not clearing much up, but Mananan knows it'd probably take a while to fully explain things.

Date: 2019-05-05 01:38 pm (UTC)[Even if it is strange to think of two beings whose very natures seemed bent on having them eternally at war.

Date: 2019-05-05 07:40 pm (UTC)There's a lot to unpack in what they're talking about, but Mananan can't help smiling at the look on Shiro's face when he says why he doesn't want their link severed.

Date: 2019-05-05 10:30 pm (UTC)It's just going to take a while for everything to sink in.
Not the “am I dead” kind.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-05 11:25 pm (UTC)It's interesting to watch the way he reacts to seeing what the city looks like.

Date: 2019-05-06 02:27 am (UTC)Shiro’s attention goes from one area of the city to the next, peering over the buildings and the clouds, the perimeter and the center, of course checking the skies around it to see if there are any flying crafts.

Date: 2019-05-06 03:20 am (UTC)Mananan's left smiling as he glances out of the window as well.
I grew up there.

Date: 2019-05-06 04:23 am (UTC)When he’s not staring down at a Heaven city.

Date: 2019-05-06 04:39 am (UTC)The request to see where he lived is surprising.
You probably don't want to wander around here without pants either.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 12:07 am (UTC)Right now, Shiro is a curious person.
To at least get some pants on.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 01:19 am (UTC)The look he gets for his answer almost makes Mananan want to take him even without pants, but he's glad that the reason is understood.
So we can leave from here.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 02:07 am (UTC)And yes, the angel’s right in that assumption.
That’s interesting.] Is this something the room does or is it one of your own skills?
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 02:32 am (UTC)Something that's very easily solved once Shiro steps closer.
] It's a mix of technology and magic.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 03:39 am (UTC)Shiro instinctively slips an arm around Mananan’s waist when the other man embraces him like that.
I assume that’s classified information.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-07 04:02 am (UTC)Mananan won't abandon or ignore Shiro if he wants more contact.
I just know that it gets me to you or places you've been and that's what matters.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-08 02:33 am (UTC)When Mananan offers him the badge, Shiro picks it up with a mixture of interest and care.
Definitely not the ordinary for Shiro at all.]
no subject
Date: 2019-05-08 02:54 am (UTC)He watches as Shiro looks at it, letting out a soft laugh.
I'll show up, even if you just want some company while you fall asleep.
no subject
Date: 2019-05-08 04:13 am (UTC)Really?

And when he hears the offer, he almost immediately opens his mouth to accept, barely stopping himself as he considers Shiro. ] Would you like me to stay the night? I'd be happy to, but I don't want you to think that you have to have me around just because I'm your angel.
