For all that Adam may joke around Shiro's "actual" age, that does not mean he has any less respect for the other man. On the contrary, there's no one out there that Adam respects more. Whether it's as a leader and mission partner or as a friend and lover, there's no one that Adam would have at his side to listen to for guidance. But all things considered, it's because of that amount of respect that he'd also have no problem with bending his lover over and spanking that rear end. (Adam has a list, if Shiro wants to see it.) Just like how he trusts Shiro to tell him when he's wrong, he just as well will be around to show Shiro when he's wrong.

You wouldn't be hard-pressed to find a time when Adam isn't looking Shiro's way. Even before his time in space, there was something about Shiro that always drew the eyes of people around him. Whether it was from his passion as he spoke about his dreams, his style of leadership, or his good looks. Adam knows that it was all three that drew his gaze at one point or another. Adam is still in disbelief that Shiro is back at his side as well. At night, when Shiro is asleep, Adam finds himself awake, and just holding onto his lover and looking over his body, just to reassure him that he's here. That he's here, and alive, and with him once again. Adam doesn't know who to thank for this, but Adam will say it until the day he dies.

Likewise, Adam can still be considered a young man himself. Shiro's body, bare and glistening with water and lit up with the lights from beneath the water is a sight to see. Seeing Shiro's body slightly distorted from the water makes Adam want to take his time looking his body all over again, seeing what changes the water brings and how that differs from what Adam remembers from his explorations of Shiro's body, memorizing the new changes from his time in space. Adam has always been more tactile with his learning, and would love to feel his body to compare. But first, he needs to catch his lover.

It's always funny, in hindsight, how competitive Adam feels when going against Shiro. No one else has ever managed to pull that side out of him, at least not to this extent. If it was anyone else, Adam would surely have swam quickly, but at a more enjoyable pace. But with Shiro? He raced towards him as though he was competing in the Olympics. The only thing slowing him down is how often he lifts his head to catch sight of the other man, wanting to make sure he's catching up to him but not close enough that he'd get hit with an errant kick as his lover races away from him. On one of his final peeks, he sees Shiro reach the wall and that puts him in a final bit of energy to speed up, intending to trap him against the wall. Of course, Shiro never intended to make things easy.

The lack of body against the wall doesn't phase him. Instead, he expected it and reaches up out of the pool and grabs Shiro's ankle. He lightly tugs at the leg, making Shiro aware that he's been caught.

Between panting breaths, he's looking up at Shiro, triumphant smile on his face, "Don't think I didn't expect this, Takashi."
