everaegis: (this is truly > 50% of his existence)

[Shiro doesn’t quite miss the expression in the other man’s eyes. Despite the alien, reptilian look to them, they still show emotion. After spending the year enslaved as a gladiatorial slave to the Galra, not knowing if or when he’d escape, never seeing another human, never knowing a friendly touch… Shiro knows exactly what it feels like to miss that kind of tactile reassurance. To have someone not be afraid or dismissive of you enough to touch you. How long, he wonders, has this man been trapped behind the claws and scales of this reptilian body? He draws his fingers back along Luchino’s fingers, feeling the length of their run and the round of strong knuckles. The sensation of scales beneath his fingertips is different than flesh or fur, but it’s nothing displeasing.

When Luchino opens his eyes and says his name, Shiro offers him a kind smile.]
Sure. Whenever you’re ready.

[He still hasn’t gotten this guy’s name; hopefully it’ll come later. The little bop on the top of the head with his nose earns a small chuckle from the human male and he reaches up with his metal hand to give him a small pat on the side of the jaw, where it curved up towards his ear. Hey, he can return those kind of touches too. Then it’s off to the table.

Where he promptly remembers the experiment they’re planning on. The only thing that’ll make this difficult is holding back on the pizza. The heady rush of cheese and tomato sauce with the herbs and the crusted dough. Man, he’d really missed Earth food while out in space.]

Both sound great. [Hitting two ends of the spectrum isn’t a bad method at all!] Thank you. [He scoops a full-loaded one first off, unable to deny his hunger. Or the gentle laugh that comes with the mention of “sometimes bugs” and that wink.] I’m not knocking it. Some cultures serve up bugs normally. Like fried grasshoppers on sticks. Or chocolate-covered ants.
