They are adults, and they can enjoy things that adults can, see things differently than some of the more hot-headed youths running around now. But at the same time, like Adam feels, Shiro’s glad that he and his lover can behave like kids every now and then. Be immature, have a fight, tease each other, go skinny dipping in the locked-but-still-public pool without worrying about getting caught. He knows they had their immaturity to blame for their break up, both stubbornness and selfishness, but even that can be mellowed in time. Yes, they’ve grown up. Even though it’s only been two years, he can tell Adam’s grown. Both in his skills and his maturity. And in other areas as well, as that naked body in front of him is blatantly attesting to… Shiro won’t say he’s the most mature person he knows, but he’s well aware he’s not some cocky, selfish brat.
Not anymore.
Shiro breathes out as the grip on his body shifts and he focuses on keeping his balance while Adam holds onto him. He’s not going to fall. That would be a pretty bad interruption to this moment. Though if he falls forward, at least he’ll land in the water and on top of Adam. Neither are bad places to fall. A soft chuckle rumbles in his chest and Shiro threads his fingers through his lover’s brown hair, playing with the rich, wet strands. “You did,” he agrees again, ears loving the sound of Adam’s shorter breath. It reminds him of so many things, from playing basketball in the Garrison as teenagers to those heated nights biting pillows and fisting sheets.
He feels relaxed and safe even though he’s naked in front of his lover. Adam’s never once averted his gaze despite the “wreck” Shiro sometimes feels he returned to the man as. He left Adam an expert pilot, secretly to be crippled with illness, and came back devoid of illness, but broken, used, and scarred. Adam had every right to turn from him and leave… but he didn’t. He stayed, looked, touched, loved… sometimes such affection hits Shiro in the heart and gut harder than he wants to admit. But… he’s never once not be grateful for it.
A thumb brushes his ankle and Shiro shivers gently at the soothing touch, the thin, sensitive skin over the bone tingling in the wake of Adam’s touch. “No one,” he agrees again. Only to blink out of the romantic glaze when the pilot says something about prize. Oh crap! He forgot! The hand on his ankle trades for the rim of the pool and one of Shiro’s muscular shoulders. Like a mythical merman Adonis bursting from the waves; that’s what the Paladin thinks of as Adam shoves up through the water and over the rim of the pool, sluicing liquid all over Shiro’s legs and hips as he’s pulled down for a kiss. He leans into it without hesitation, eyes closing as he feels Adam’s burning desire for him nigh-glowing against his face and neck. Caught… addicted… and wanting. Wanting to be taken by the man who’s captured him heart and all.
Shiro wraps his arm around Adam’s shoulders and upper back, pulling him into the kiss as well as he deepens it, a low groan of desire building in his throat. He finally breaks the kiss, only enough to get his words out, lips brushing over his lover’s as he speaks. “Where?” Here on the tiles beside the pool or in the water itself?
